Vintage Pachinko Machines
Vintage pachinko machines were made from the 1920s to the 1970s with the vast majority of machines you see on eBay and Craigslist from the 1970s. They have a chrome flipper that is used to launch the balls onto the playfield.
Vintage pachinko machines are purely mechanical and do not need electricity except for a few light bulbs that flash when you get a jackpot. The sound you hear when you get a jackpot is the balls falling down hitting a bell, there are no speakers.
During the period of time when manufacturers were migrating to modern pachinko machines, a few vintage machines were equipped with an electronic shooter knob, some simple electronic components or both.

Modern Pachinko Machines
Any pachinko machines made from 1980 are classified as modern. They have a round knob that you turn to automatically launch the balls onto the playfield.
Modern pachinko machines must have electricity to operate all the motors, LCD screens, reels, lights and speakers.
